September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Let’s Enjoy a Cup of Tea to Raise Funds for CANSA!
Crayon, a specialist Paediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Oncology unit based in the Northern suburbs of the Cape Metropole, and Icon Oncology are hosting a Cuppa for CANSA fundraising event in early September 2024.
Dr Johann Riedemann, the founder of the Crayon unit, which is based at Cape Gate Oncology Centre, is the guest speaker and will share his vision to provide the highest precision oncology services to young cancer patients.
The Crayon Unit play a crucial role in the fight against paediatric cancer. In South Africa, an average of 800 to 1,000 children are newly diagnosed with cancer each year. Tragically, it’s estimated that at least half of all children with cancer in the country are never diagnosed, underscoring the critical need for comprehensive oncology services.
The work done by CANSA is vital in improving early diagnosis, providing access to compassionate care, and supporting these young fighters and their families through their journeys. Their dedication ensures that more children have a chance at a brighter, healthier future.
