Dr Johann Riedemann

MBChB MSc FCRadOnc MMed PhD

Dr Johann Riedemann is a Clinical Radiation and Molecular Oncologist practicing at the Cancercare units in Cape Gate and Panorama. He has extensive experience in paediatric, adolescent and young adult oncology having dedicated his post graduate studies and research to this specialist field.

Crayon is the culmination of his vision to provide the highest quality precision oncology for children, adolescents and young adults in South Africa. The newly established special unit based at the Cape Gate Oncology Centre provides access to advanced radiotherapy techniques, risk-adapted chemotherapy, endocrine, biological and immune-mediated therapies.

His vision includes caring for those fortunate enough to undergo curative treatment, but also for those with incurable disease in need of palliative intervention and/or supportive care.

Dr Annemie Burke

MBChB, FCA(Anes), MMed(US), DCH, DA

Dr Annemie Burke is a specialist Anaesthesiologist with 23 years, clinical experience. The last 19 years was spent at Tygerberg Academic Hospital where she actively participated in several peri-operative teams often caring for critically ill children. During this time, she loved teaching and mentoring healthcare workers across disciplines and regularly spoke at paediatric and sedation congresses. She has published in national and international journals, contributed to national guidelines for the South Africa Society of Anaesthesiologists (SASA) and is currently collaborating with a multinational team on a paediatric anaesthesia textbook for the Low- -Middle-Income-Country context.

At heart she is a team player who loves children and enjoys connecting with patients and colleagues. She believes kindness creates a caring environment.

Dr Annemie Burke

Dr Gertjie Rossouw

MBChB, MMed(Paediatric), MPhil(Neonatology)

Dr Gertjie Rossouw is a dedicated and compassionate expert in the field of paediatrics, with over 23 years’ experience. In 2000, he successfully obtained his MBChB degree from the University of Stellenbosch, and ever since, he has dedicated his academic and clinical endeavours to various aspects of paediatric care.

Dr Rossouw became a qualified paediatrician in 2010, further enhancing his expertise by specializing as a neonatal intensive care specialist in 2014. Currently, he finds fulfilment in his roles as a paediatrician and neonatologist at Cape Cate Mediclinic.

His passion stems from the vibrant energy of children, and he enjoys connecting with their youthful spirits. He advocates for the wellbeing of all children and their families, both physically and mentally.
